Dust-coated, sweaty, covered in horse hair and absolutely exhilarated. The life of a Horse-woman by the name of Sierra.
I have spent a good chunk of my 26 years living in the American southwest, more specifically; Rural southern Utah. Raised on a farm, I was that little girl who incessantly pestered her parents for a horse. Luckily for me, I actually got one (well, a “family” horse) at the age of 7. I proceeded to spend the next 19 years of my life fumbling around with multiple horses and discipline; western, english, bareback, by far my favorite, before settling on mustangs, they captivated me. It has always been the family joke that my destiny was to be equine obsessed due to my mother watching a show jumping competition while in labor with me. With that early start, what’s a girl to do?
When I am not training horses, I am:
Indulging in my reading obsession
Traveling around the world visiting exotic countries
Playing with my dog fur baby Sir Sam Samington
Hiking mountains or swimming in lakes and rivers
Spending as much time outside as physically possible
Learning new hobbies, like archery or knife throwing
Writing a blog!!
I do not consider myself to be a professional horse trainer, but I have worked with many horses, wild and domestic, here and abroad, (that is another story) and feel that I am qualified to share my ideas. My aim for this blog is to help shed some light on the down’n dirty that is working with wild horses. My (mostly daily) activities with the small herd of crazies that live on my farm.
So pull on your boots or your tennies (if that’s your jam) strap that helmet on and jump in the saddle, its going to be a mostly painless ride.
